poker dice

game is played with five dice

the aim is to build the best possible poker hand.

the 1 is ranked high. hands ranked high to low:

1. Five-of-a-Kind
2. Four-of-a-Kind
3. Straight
4. Full House
5. Three-of-a-Kind
6. Two Pairs
7. One Pair
8. Highest Die

each player in turn has up to three throws of the dice. after each throw they put aside any dice they wish to use for their hand, rolling the remainder. players may stop after the first or second throw if they wish

the player with the highest ranking hand wins the game

variations of poker dice allow subsequent players only as many throws of the dice as the first player has done

in some variations Straight is placed lower than Full (as in card poker) though in dice this is against the theory of probabilities

in some variations Highest Die is placed above the Three-of-a-Kind according to the theory of probabilities
